Modular LabVIEW test systems on the DQMH framework

Client: leading German manufacturer of power equipmentScope: architecture, development, documentationStatus: ongoing

Challenge

Test systems have to grow with new product variants and instruments – and stay maintainable by the customer's own team.

What we did

We architect and develop LabVIEW test applications on DQMH with NI hardware: independent modules with clear request/broadcast interfaces, API testers for each module, and documentation of architecture and usage.

Result

Modular test software that can be extended module by module instead of rewritten. For the same customer we also develop embedded software in C.

Connected energy gateway for PV inverters and batteries – from PCB to CRA readiness

Scope: electronics, firmware, PC tools, cloud connection, security

Challenge

Hybrid PV inverters and batteries from many brands need to send data to – and take commands from – the operator's own cloud, without going through the inverter manufacturer's cloud. The device must also meet the RED cybersecurity requirements (EN 18031) and the Cyber Resilience Act.

What we did

We developed the gateway end to end. The electronics connect to the inverter over RS-485 (Modbus RTU) and to the internet over Wi-Fi. The firmware has profiles for 20+ inverter and meter manufacturers and talks to AWS IoT Core over MQTT with TLS. It can control battery charging, the operating mode and export limits. A family of PC tools covers configuration, administration, updates, licensing and calibration. Security was part of the design from the start: signed firmware updates, Ed25519 licence tokens, TLS and per-device credentials. We also ran a CRA gap assessment (Annex I, Art. 14) and an EN 18031 pre-assessment, and produced a CVD policy and an SBOM.

Result

Complete electronics, firmware and tooling with full documentation – from system specification to test reports. CE / RED conformity and CRA preparation are in progress. We also know first-hand what the CRA means for firmware, tools and documentation – experience we now apply in customer projects.

MISRA analysis and code hardening for the series launch of a safety-relevant product

Client: leading German manufacturer of power equipmentScope: MISRA C analysis, code modifications, reviews

Challenge

The embedded C software of a safety-relevant product had to reach series-production quality before launch – compliant with MISRA C and robust enough for the field.

What we did

We analysed the code against MISRA C with static analysis and sorted the findings by risk – real defects first, then type conversions, control flow and readability. We then modified the code step by step, with every change reviewed and traceable to its finding, so the product kept working throughout.

Result

Firmware prepared for the series launch of a safety-relevant product, with the MISRA findings addressed and a code base the customer's team can maintain with confidence.

EV charging energy balancer – hardware, firmware and system test

Scope: complete development – HW, SW, system testPlatform: 32-bit MCU

Challenge

Distribute available power between EV charging and other loads safely and in real time, while communicating with several devices over different interfaces.

What we did

We designed the electronics and firmware: multi-protocol communication (UART, RS-485, RS-232, I2C, SPI, Ethernet), EEPROM management, galvanic input isolation, PID and nonlinear power regulation, and energy-consumption prediction.

Result

A complete, system-tested balancer – hardware, firmware and tests from one team, with interfaces designed together instead of discovered late.

Secure RFID reader/writer – end-to-end development

Scope: hardware, firmware, system testPlatform: 32-bit MCU

Challenge

Read and write RFID media securely and integrate the reader into host systems over several interfaces.

What we did

We developed the complete embedded RFID reader/writer: secure RFID communication with DES and AES encryption, firmware with USB, I2C and UART interfaces, and integration of a magnetometer sensor.

Result

A secure, system-tested reader/writer – hardware and firmware delivered and verified by one team.
